Working on learning Farm Bureau systems. Learning Delphi, ANSN's AVR, C# and .Net to create new programs, maintain old ones and creat a bridge between the IBM I and the .Net world using AVR. Enhancing RPG skills by using XML operands and attaching to various web services to send and receive data.

Maintain, and enhance existing systems; plus create new systems. Working on Order Power Web-store system by CSI, along with Mac-Pac and Log-Pro, interfacing these systems together. Plus interfacing our Mac-Pac system to web-based Sales by Design and converting our existing Credit Card Application to Veriphone’s RiTA Server, also back up on Software Plus and Kronos systems for payroll and time keeping. I’m in charge of Change Management System LM(i) purchased from Aldon adding new releases and updates to all software to be Sox compliant. Working with WDSc and new features to move development off “green screen” and on IBM’s IDE environment, using Aldon and other vendors plug-in’s.Converted our existing web-site on a unix server to run on iSeries under apache and to work with our existing web-store software (Order Power) from Computer Solutions saving company 350-400k/year in hosting fees.

My biggest project at MBS was to help convert (rewrite) their over 2,000+ programs from System/34 to the predecessor of the iSeries (S/38). We undertook the task to make the new system as efficient as possible. Years later when we were maxing out on the largest S/38 at the time (model F70) IBM analyzed our performance data and found we were getting over 2,000 more transactions per hour more than what the system was rated for. So I think we did our job. I also work with Western Union to be able to send orders via their “Easylink Network” system between book stores and our company with fulfillment responses sent back the same way. Since most book stores at the time use telex to send order to used book fulfillment centers, this eliminated someone on both sides having to key in the data on each end. Plus made the responses to and back more accurate and faster.Later I developed iSeries programs that could get credit card authorizations for their MBS Direct ordering system.

Started as a programmer trainee out of college and work up to IT Manager in the last two year before I left.

Majored in Math with minor in Computer Science because at the time there was no major for CompSci, also obtained my private pilots license.
