Provide vision and leadership for the overall direction, strategic planning, budgetary management, resource development and operating effectiveness of The Science House. In addition, I collaborate with the Museum’s Director of Education and NC State faculty to develop and enhance partnerships with K-12 communities, informal science communities and other stakeholders of The Science House to promote and enhance programs that advance STEM education. I develop strategies with Museum staff and University faculty to link The Science House and Museum to K-12 broader impact initiatives with federal, state and local research grants and will oversee coordination of appropriate assessments to ensure and document the impact of all outreach programs. l oversee all staff of The Science House and, working collaboratively with the Museum staff, will establish shared goals and objectives for The Science House, ensuring high standards, documented outcomes, and programs based on proven educational research.

Directed all aspects of this non-profit organization that served over 800 schools and 14,000 students in North Carolina.

Manage all aspects of National Science Foundation (NSF) grant including personnel, budget, recruitment, advertisement, purchasing, reporting, conferences, payments, and communications.

Taught introductory biology courses in the evening for students in health sciences and college transfer programs.

Provided vision, leadership and direction to improve the quality of mathematics and science teaching and learning in the schools of eastern North Carolina. Designed and offered high quality programs for teachers, students, and school administrators, as well as, improved curricula and built partnerships between universities, schools, parents and businesses. Identified the need for projects or activities for area math and science teachers; wrote grants and managed various projects; and administered fourteen different budgets within the center. Completed interim and final reports along with formative and cumulative evaluations for all programs. Orchestrated all recruitment, purchasing, finances, and details for all projects, programs, conferences, and activities of CSMTE.

Developed curricula, taught, and assessed the North Carolina Standard Course of Study for Biology, Physics, Earth Science, and Algebra courses. Worked integrally with colleagues to develop plans to successfully meet departmental, county, and state education goals. End of Course Test results were 4 points above exemplary status.

Developed, implemented, and instructed field-based methods courses focused on the teaching of science in the elementary school. Developed an interactive website to align with course goals. Collaborated with area schools, administrators and teachers to provide field-based teaching experiences for future teachers. Performed extensive qualitative research in an effort to improve the university preparation of future teachers in science.
