President of the Swedish section of Reporters Without Borders (RSF Sweden), one of the world’s most respected and influential organizations working for press freedom, defense of free and independent media, and protection of journalists. I led the work both strategically and operationally with the aim to increase impact of the issues and influence policy. I was the organization’s spokesperson and executive director with a substantial presence in the public debate. I also developed partnerships to increase our reach and impact.During my time at the helm, I led RSF Sweden to a significant increase in visibility and impact – both directed at general public and in the policy arena. I was responsible for digital advocacy campaigns that went on to win the most prestigious awards in the business (Guldägget, 100-wattare, Cleo, Eurobest, Webby Awards and more).

Vice President of Reporters Sans Frontières International (RSF International), the organization’s international superstructure coordinating activities between countries, and member of its executive committee where decisions on international strategies are made.

As my role developed at Plan, I was tasked to take a broader look at how the organization could improve results in their interventions by models novel to international development. I wanted to move away from philanthropy and shift focus to self-sustaining solutions with a market-based approach. Part of the role was also to function as an internal “evangelist” to inspire other parts of the global organization to become more innovative and leverage strengths from partnerships.

Plan International was one of the first major development organizations to focus on using information technologies for international development (ICT4D) and I had the opportunity to work on a multitude of international projects while trying to make use of technologies to achieve better results for our beneficiaries. For example, in Uganda we combined new technologies with cross-sector collaborations with the government, phone companies and financial institutions and gave thousands of young farmers access to financial markets and supply-chains for international trade – all on market terms to guarantee sustainability.

Led and developed communication campaigns in digital channels to build retention and increase online revenue, at a time when social media was in its early phases.

Conceptualization, start-up and daily routines with the internet portal Skyddsnatet.nu.

Consultancy work for clients such as Vattenfall, Cosmonova and Runaware. Development of in-house ventures, copywriting, information architecture and concept development. Much time was spent on mobile solutions for community-building, and I where I took an active part in negotiations with operators to enable services.

I was responsible for the integration and presentation of the final site, and to coordinate tech and marketing efforts. I reported straight to the CEO.

Mostly focusing on information architecture for governmental clients, and startup of the in-house dotcom project Runaware - a venture I later joined full-time (see above).

Freelance work as a subcontractor, mostly to X-Kommunikation AB (later Cross Communication AB). Typical clients were the Swedish Government, International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance and large national organizations like TCO and SIF.
