Started as Air Force Officer. Was an operational member of the working group for reconfiguration the 2 KC-10 civil aircrafts into KDC-10 Tanker Aircraft. The procurement of 2 C-130-30 aircraft, the 2 Fokker F50 and 4 F60U aircrafts and the Gulfstream VIP aircraft.

Sailed as Chief Officer one year on inshore minesweepers.up to 1974 Switched in 1974 to Naval Air Arm was flying for 2 years as a navigator on SP2H ( Neptune) with 320 Sq. Thereafter trained as a naval pilot flew SP2H, SOP13A, P3C. From 1988 served as a exchange officer by the Dutch Air Force 334 Sq. In 1989 served in Curacao as Ops Officer with RNLAF 336 Sqn. In August 1992 end of my active naval officer carreer.

Sailed as an apprentice officer with the Kon. Rotterdamsche Lloyd. After my study for 3rd officer sailed with the NSM "Oceaan" on different dutch and English registrated vessels. Ended my merchant navy carreer as junior 2nd officer in September 1972 to start my Navy carreer.
