Essex County Newspapers consisted of the Beverly Times, Peabody Times, The Daily News of Newburyport and the Gloucester Daily Times. Prior to being bought by Ottaway Newspapers, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dow Jones & Company Inc., the newspapers were owned by Phil Weld and Alex Stoddart. Soon after Ottaway purchased the company, we bought the Salem Evening News and rolled the Beverly Times and Peabody Times into it. As Director of HR, I handled most employee issues in all the newspapers.
