Jasper is a former entrepreneur and a partner at Cherry Ventures, one of Europe's leading early stage venture capital funds. He has been actively investing as a venture capital partner since 2015, with a focus on B2B software applications in the realms of cloud computing, cybersecurity, AI, and new frontier technologies.Prior to joining Cherry Ventures, Jasper established the Berlin office of HV Capital and led the B2B software team. He has been responsible for over 12 investments, including Verbit.ai, Sastrify.com, Hadrian.io, Ultimate.ai, Linearity.io, LegalOS.io, and Lingokids.com, among others. His primary focus is on helping start-ups find their product-market fit, identifying the right go-to-market model, fundraising, and expanding into new markets, often in the United States.Jasper considers himself fortunate to have had very early insights into deal-making and venture investing. Raised in a merchant's family, he internalised the principle of "a gentleman's handshake". In 2002, at the age of 22, he joined HV as a summer intern and was captivated by the team's passion for venture investing. During his educational years, he lived in England, Spain, and Latin America. He holds two degrees in Business Administration and graduated with first-class honours from both Lancaster University Management School in England and the European School of Business (ESB) in Reutlingen, Germany. Jasper also worked as a researcher at RWTH Aachen for his (still unfinished) PhD, where he helped Professor Malte Brettel set up the university's Centre for Entrepreneurship.Jasper understands from personal experience what founding and running your own company entails. Before joining HV, he bootstrapped GreatContent.com, an online platform selling creative texts in 18 languages to clients around the world. After years as the sole founder and CEO, Jasper sold the platform to a publishing group. Scaling his company from zero to thousands of customers was an eye-opening journey. During this time, he began investing in more than a dozen start-ups. Before his entrepreneurial stint, Jasper worked in corporate finance and strategy for The Boston Consulting Group.In his leisure time, Jasper enjoys reading The Economist and science fiction books. He also immerses himself in playing console games, drumming, or sailing. With a Lego rocket, A-Wing, Batmobile, and Tallneck adorning his work desk, he humbly accepts the label of 'tech nerd'.
