My research interests are located within physical cultural studies focusing on inclusion & digital cultures, embodied experience, and well-being. Recent papers have focused on diversity and fitness culture, how young people use online fitness information to support health lifestyles, explored engagement in physical gender and identity practices online, and have conceptualised how physicality provides existential possibilities for wellbeing. My earlier work and PhD focused on how cultural changes associated with the postmodern age such as the Internet effect our society and how the internet can promote wellbeing for people living with chronic health conditions. This led to an interest in how consumers use the internet and new technologies (such as application software) as a part of physical activity and exercise regimes. I also have a passion for methodology, and particularly those that empower and involve the general public within the research process. I have recently collaborated with internationally renowned authors on several methodological journal articles that focus of the formal conceptualisation and review of Mixed Methods Phenomenological Research.I have a passionate interest in feminism and the promotion of equal rights and am proud to promote inclusion in professional practice through my creative approach to teaching (socio-cultural studies) and as co-convener of the Bournemouth University Woman's Academic Network.
