I work in IBM’s Office of Privacy and Responsible Technology as AI Ethics Market Strategy Lead. My role is to deliver client success through advising on enhancements designed to support compliance with AI regulations such as the European Union AI Act. Previously, I spent eight years at IBM Promontory working in the Privacy and Data Protection practice. I specialised in helping businesses manage risks and regulatory obligations associated with handling personal data across multiple jurisdictions. I also provided advice on public policy issues, particularly relating to the UK and EU. Prior to that, I worked at the UK Ministry of Justice where I was the lead negotiator for the UK government on the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and represented the UK at the European Commission’s Article 31 Committee. As a privacy professional, I sat on the IAPP European Advisory Board 2019-2020. I was a Chair of the London Chapter of the IAPP KnowledgeNet 2015-16. I have achieved the CIPP/E, CIPM and FIP accreditations. I was a contributing author to the AIGP curriculum and I also hold that certification. I have had over 25 articles published on privacy issues and have spoken at numerous conferences on topics such as international data transfers, developing a business case for privacy programmes, the impact of Brexit on data protection policy, and the operation of the UK courts and tribunals system in the field of information rights.
