About Jonathan Mcclelland

I'm a Career Services Coordinator at the University of Michigan's School for Environment and Sustainability. I believe that a meaningful life is defined by what we produce, not what we consume, so my work helping young professionals find work in sustainability, ecology, and environmental justice is something I'm very proud of.To help students, I use my extensive background in education and workforce development to assist Michigan students find meaningful career prospects in the green sector. Whether it's through 1:1 coaching, group webinars, or classroom facilitation, my goal is to support job seekers navigate barriers to success. I see myself as a navigator in the passenger seat on a job seeker's road trip: they decide the destination and where to go, but I can offer them the best way to get there and beneficial stops to make along the way.As a returned Peace Corps volunteer (RPCV) and through my work with refugees and immigrant communities, I have extensive experience working with international students and navigating intercultural differences. Over the last 5+ years, my human-centered approach to career advising has granted me the chance to find success with people across all walks of life: from maintenance workers and line cooks, to architects and software developers. Watching someone find their dream job is such an amazing experience, and I'm so grateful to have a career where I've helped hundreds of people find meaningful work. When I'm not working, I love watching or playing soccer, spending time in nature, and watching movies.
