I served as an official spokesperson for the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) on national defense issues and others, managed and led a team of five, and offered strategic communication counsel to senior executives within AIA and from our member companies.In this role, I:• Managed and led a five-person communication team• Pitched media stories and interviews to influential national media outlets and trade publications• Developed and executed strategic media plans for a variety of issues and public policy interests• Secured interviews for AIA officials and executives across national, state, local, and trade media outlets• Drafted, edited, and placed statements, opinion pieces, and letters to the editor in national, state, local, and trade media outlets• Provided media relations support and guidance to AIA officials and executives

I served as an official spokesperson for the American Chemistry Council on some of the most challenging issues facing the chemical industry, including international and domestic chemical regulations and management, chemical risk assessments, regulatory reform, federal labeling reform, microplastics, and more. In this role, I:• Managed and led a two-person communication team• Pitched media stories and interviews to influential national media outlets and trade publications• Developed and executed strategic media plans for a variety of industry issues and public policy interests• Secured interviews for ACC officials and executives across national, state, local, and trade media outlets• Drafted, edited, and placed statements, opinion pieces, and letters to the editor in national, state, local, and trade media outlets• Provided media relations support and guidance to ACC officials and executives

After Rep. Thornberry was named chairman of the House Armed Services Committee; I was asked to return to his personal office to lead the three-person communication team working for the people of the 13th District of Texas.I was thankful to have the opportunity to lead and manage a team once again. While I had never done so outside of the military, I quickly found that many of the traits I learned and developed as a team leader in the Army applied in an office environment as well.During that time, I also started and completed my master's degree in communication from The Johns Hopkins University.In this role, I:• Managed and led a three-person communication team• Developed and oversaw the execution of comprehensive communication plans • Acted as the direct liaison between the congressman and local and national media outlets• Fostered close relationships with local and national reporters• Drafted, edited, and distributed press releases, op-eds, media advisories, fact sheets, and e-newsletters• Filmed and edited high-definition video interviews with the congressman for use by local broadcast stations• Coordinated with the congressman and legislative staff to inform the public of legislative efforts• Managed the congressman’s official website and social media accounts---Mac Thornberry served as Chairman of the Armed Services Committee from January 2015 to January 2019, the first Texan of either party to hold this position. Mac also previously served on the House Committee on Intelligence, as well as on the Budget Committee, Resources Committee, the Select Committee on Homeland Security, and the Joint Economic Committee. He also chaired the Task Force on Cybersecurity in 2011 and 2012.

To gain more communication experience off the Hill, I seized an opportunity to work for Edison Electric Institute, which represents investor-owned electric utilities across the nation. At EEI, I faced new challenges by working on some of the most difficult issues facing the electric power industry, including the Clean Water Act, the Clean Air Act, the Clean Power Plan, coal ash disposal, renewable energy/net metering, and more. In this role, I:• Acted as an official spokesman for the investor-owned electric utility industry’s trade association• Fielded a variety of media inquiries from national media outlets and trade publications• Pitched potential media stories and interviews to national media outlets and trade publications• Developed and executed strategic media plans for a variety of industry issues and public policy interests• Secured interviews for EEI officials across cable news networks, radio shows, and print outlets• Drafted, edited, and distributed press releases, statements, op-ed pieces, and letters to the editor in national media outlets and trade publications• Provided media relations support and guidance to EEI officials and member company executives---EEI is the trade association that represents all U.S. investor-owned electric companies. Its members provide electricity for 220 million Americans, operate in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, and directly employ more than 500,000 workers.

I had the privilege of working for U.S. Representative Mac Thornberry as a press assistant. Before being hired by Thornberry, I worked in the offices of U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Education and the Workforce Chairwoman Virginia Foxx, U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations Chairman Bob Corker, and Tennessee House of Representatives Speaker Beth Harwell.In this role, I:• Acted as a direct liaison between the congressman and local and national media• Drafted, edited, and placed columns and op-eds in local and national media outlets• Coordinated with the congressman and legislative staff to promote and inform the public of legislative efforts• Drafted, edited, and distributed more than 28 e-newsletters that generated more than 101,816 unique opens by recipients• Drafted, edited, and distributed more than 88 press releases that generated more than 500 local and national media stories• Planned and managed the design of the congressman’s official website, earning a “Gold Mouse Award” from the Congressional Management Foundation in the 113th Congress---Mac Thornberry served as Chairman of the Armed Services Committee from January 2015 to January 2019, the first Texan of either party to hold this position.Mac also previously served on the House Committee on Intelligence, as well as on the Budget Committee, Resources Committee, the Select Committee on Homeland Security, and the Joint Economic Committee. After honorably completing my service in the 82nd Airborne Division, I worked at the Department of Labor’s Veterans Employment and Training Service (VETS) through the Department of Veterans Affairs' work-study program while earning my bachelor's degree.My two and a half years at VETS provided me an introduction to government service outside of the military, and it allowed me to continue serving others. During that time, I also took on internships with the office of Rep. Beth Harwell, Speaker of the Tennessee House of Representative; Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN); and Seigenthaler Public Relations (now DVL Seigenthaler).In this role, I:• Wrote a comprehensive communication plan for advancing VETS initiatives in field offices across the state• Produced informative materials for wounded and disabled service members who were accessing VETS services• Assisted and provided information to wounded and disabled service members in accessing Department of Labor servicesAnd through my multiple internships, I:• Drafted talking points speeches for the Speaker• Provide logistical support for the Senator at speaking engagements and community appearances•Devised and implemented proactive media strategies to promote client PR campaigns• Prepared press kits, wrote press releases, and pitched news releases• Assisted in constituent service casework, correspondence, and record maintenance• Tracked pertinent news clips and engaged new media to address various aspects of client issues• Researched and reported on relevant issues for the legislative sessions---The Veterans' Employment and Training Service (VETS) proudly prepares America's veterans, service members and their spouses, for meaningful careers, provide them with the employment resources and expertise, protect their employment rights and promote their employment opportunities.

My decision to join the military started with a promise I made on Sept. 11, 2001, to do something about the terrorist attacks that took place that day. As a 16-year-old home sick from school, I watched in horror and sadness as the events of the day played out live on television. Like so many others, 9/11 changed my life in ways that I never would have predicted at the time.After graduating high school, I enlisted in the Army’s 82nd Airborne Division as an infantry paratrooper. The values that were instilled in me and what I experienced during my service in Iraq and Afghanistan remain an important part of who I am today. I also discovered my passion for leading and managing teams as a young infantry sergeant in charge of a four-man rifle team.In this role, I was:• Promoted to the non-commissioned officer rank of Sergeant at the earliest eligible date;• Responsible for the physical and mental readiness, weapons and medical skill proficiency, safety and leadership development of four paratroopers in the team; and • Responsible for assigned equipment valued in excess of $500,000. Among other awards and medals, I earned:• The Army Achievement Medal while deployed to Iraq– 2005 to 2006;• The Army Commendation Medal while deployed to Afghanistan– 2007 to 2008; and• The Army Commendation Medal by securing and promoting lasting partnerships with Iraqi security forces, Afghani security forces, and local Iraqi and Afghani nationals. ---The mission of the 82nd Airborne Division is to, within 18 hours of notification, strategically deploy, conduct forcible entry parachute assault and secure key objectives for follow-on military operations in support of U.S. national interests.The infantry is the main land combat force and the backbone of the Army. They are responsible for defending our country against any threat by land, as well as capturing, destroying and repelling enemy ground forces.
