-Lead a team of 3 co-ops responsible to improve productivity on the Purple assembly line. The team conducted time studies on the assembly operations and discussed improvement opportunities with assembly and kitting associates. The first project’s goal was to take the labor of part kitting off the assembly line workers. The team used SolidWorks to generate concepts/final design, procured material, machined cart tops on a mill and with CNC, and implemented 6 improved part kitting carts. Productivity improved by 5% resulting in an annual profit of $10,000/year. -Worked on a 5S Project to improve productivity on pump Test Stands. Operators complained about having to dig through a bin of 65+ bolts; workers would walk from stand to stand to steal/share equipment they needed. Our group of three worked with shift leaders to design a tray for each stand. We worked with the apprentice shop manager to machine the plastic/metal bolt holder. This project improved operator productivity by 2% and saved ~$90,000/year, since there are 14 different test stands in Building 3.-Assisted a team of engineers building the FOBA Clear Label Applicators for metal name/data plates. Rexroth was having problems with scratched/unreadable metal labels, team leaders wanted to build (from scratch) a cart/machine to automatically place a clear protective sticker over every pump tag. Our group of three helped solve prototype issues, assembled all outsourced materials, and machined all metal/plastic components to specification; we saved $80,000 by helping build 2 of the 4 applicators in house.-Compared process times for certain groups of drive shafts, for turn-over on the test stands, and 17 other pump routings that were outdated. Updated SAP and changed routings in the MDSB (Machine Downtime Schedule Board, the software to see part scheduling on specific machines). -Performed Ergonomic Checks on 70 associate positions (all assembly lines, test stands, kitting areas, and operators)
