Elevate and improve equity and access for culturally specific communities through collaboration, improvement of federal grant opportunities, processes, distribution of funding, legislation, implementation of laws and other issues pertaining to gender-based violence in culturally specific communities. Coordinate the development of federal policy, protocols and guidelines on matters relating to gender based violence in culturally specific communities. I oversee a staff who provide training and technical assistance for State Administering Agencies of Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) assistance and compensation funds. The goal of The OVC VOCA Center is to build a strong support network of VOCA Administrators and their staff to broaden victim services to historically underserved communities and to advance promising policies, practices, and programs that promote justice and healing for all victims of crime. We work to achieve these goals through the provision of peer-to-peer training and technical assistance, and support on federal grant management.

Iowa Attorney General'S Office

I lead a staff of 30 and managed an annual budget of $40-$50 million to administer seven statewide, victim service programs. This included Crime Victim Compensation, Sexual Abuse Examination Payment, Victim Services Support (federal/state grants), IowaVINE-Statewide automated victim notification, Identity Theft Passport Program, Registrant Watch-automated victim notification in partnership with DPS and Training, Outreach and Anti Human Trafficking efforts.

I managed Iowa's Crime Victim Compensation & Sexual Assault Examination Payment Programs. Direct supervision of 14 staff members as well as management of an annual federal grant varying from $2-$5 million dollars. Also oversaw the program manager of several other programs designed to assist victims of crime.

I oversaw implementation efforts of Iowa's statewide, automated victim notification system. This included overseeing a $2.3 million federal grant and generating buy-in from Iowa's 99 county Sheriffs as well as the Department of Corrections. I also conducted all of the training and outreach for all 7 of the Crime Victim Assistance Division's programs. This consisted of creating a regional training plan and incorporating adult learning techniques.

Supervised a staff of 7-8 Dentention Officers. Maintained custody, care and control of both state and federal inmate population. Performed classification interviews, reviewed prior behavior notes and criminal history and assigned inmates to varying levels of security. Worked with Sheriff, Jail Admin and Command Staff to determine annual budget and progressive spending throughout the year. Conducted employee interviewing, disciplinary actions, evaluations and other staffing issues.
