As the Advocacy & Communications Manager, I am continuing to oversee all of Habitat Florida's communication channels, both internal and external as well as taking on additional responsibilities in the realm of advocacy. This includes planning and executing advocacy events, such as visits to the state capital, as well as keeping up with state and national developments that can impact Habitat Florida and its affiliates. This includes tracking legislation and reporting it to internal and external stakeholders. I also work to build positive relationships with local, state, and national legislators.

As the Communications Manager with Habitat for Humanity of Florida, I am built upon my time as the Communications Specialist by developing two monthly newsletters, various email campaigns and maintaining the organization's website and Sharepoint site. I also created and implemented a statewide communications plan based on the organization's strategic goals and contributed to successful grant applications through research, narrative creation, and editing. Additionally, I managed Habitat Florida's social media pages and consistently increased following across platforms. I also launched our Seasonal Learning Series, developing and implementing content for monthly trainings for organization employees.

As the Communications Specialist for Manatee YourChoice, the health plan for Manatee County Government employees, I honed my skills as a communicator to a diverse audience using quarterly newsletters, home mailings, email updates, and creative flyers. I also participated in program design for health initiatives, integrating the knowledge of our clinical team with creative outreach strategies to drive participation and improve health outcomes.

In my first full-time marketing roll I was able to grow our business social media audience across platforms through content creation and management. I also led our team's involvement in community events through the planning phases into day-of participation. In addition, I researched, wrote and designed the monthly newsletter and created marketing materials for promotions and special events.

In these roles, I honed my skills as a communicator focused on disseminating critical information to internal and external partners. I coordinated client needs within multiple departments, while specifically serving as a liaison between the sales and service departments. I led a team of service personnel to ensure client satisfaction and sales profit and attended to internal and external requests in a timely manner utilizing in-person and electronic communication to relay messages to stakeholders.

As a Civics teacher, I was able to share my passion for government with the next generation. I was able to serve as a student mentor with the county mentoring program as well as manage the annual budget and fundraising projects of Student Council and Beta Club. I coordinated and presented professional development opportunities for staff members and participated in school-wide collaborative planning sessions where I used data that I had gathered and analyzed to improve my teaching practice.

Sparking my interest in the public relations field, my role as an intern in the Community Partnerships department allowed me to take on multiple roles in a fast-paced environment. I planned and executed quarterly meeting for business executives in the Orlando community, gathering date from these executives to update program practices and plan content for our team's monthly newsletter. I also promoted Community Partnerships initiatives through blog posts, social media updates, and the production of a monthly web-based cooking show.
