I programmed R Scripts for conducting and tracking the preparation, manipulation, and analysis of customized datasets. I reviewed case definitions, data dictionaries and other documentation of various datasets intended for inclusion in the study, developing and maintaining supplemental materials where appropriate, including modified dictionaries and data flow diagrams for use internally and by external partners/contractors. I coordinated with other state officials within the department and the Opioid Operational Command Center to identify analyses for inclusion in the annual study and report required by state law (Chapter 211, 2018), reviewed projects proposed by analytic partners, and provided subject matter expertise on hospital data and other aspects of the project. As a result of changes in the data sharing and data governance policies and procedures across the Maryland Department of Health in late 2021, I provided technical expertise in testing and transitioning the sandbox environment for the DORM Project analytics between a temporary environment hosted by the state's health information exchange to the permanent state-run MD THINK platform. I managed the MS SQL Server for the Behavioral Health Administration and coordinated data sharing between state and academic partners. Select analytics included modeling risk of fatal overdose based on hospital interactions, (e.g. nonfatal overdose and diagnoses of mental health conditions, chronic pain, injuries, and infections associated with injection drug use), and assessing trends in overdose fatality and fentanyl analogs. Provided part-time transitional support 4/11/2022 through end of FY 2022 (6/30/2022). Show less -

I managed several REDCap databases containing specialized modules reviewing more than 2000 advertisements across five years, entered by a team of undergraduate and staff coders. I routinely cleaned and analyze the data to produce tables for reporting to study team leads and sponsors at the FDA Center for Tobacco Products. I programmed .do files in Stata 15 to recode missing data points, remove redundant and inappropriate ads, merge flavor variables for efficient analysis, and perform inter-rater reliability tests for quality control and consistency between coders.Prior to the production and analysis phases, I collaborated with principal investigators and colleagues in the the development of data collection materials and prioritizing development scheduling to fulfill deliverables. I supported the development of an experimental study designed to assess the influence of ad features on potential users, including reviewing protocol revisions and visual mock ads. Show less -

Internally, prior to data collection I supported the establishment of several quality control protocols including supply inventory logs and appropriate participant ID labeling practices across the study regions. At the close of data collection for each county, I qualitatively coded interview transcripts in MAXQDA and synthesized findings into county-level and regional reports for dissemination to local and state health departments. These findings were also compiled into PowerPoint presentations, given in collaboration with study leadership and fellow staff. Show less -
