I have delivered on-farm food safety and animal care programs, coordinated the Heritage Egg Program, and presented to various audiences on poultry welfare topics. I am passionate about advancing the knowledge and practice of poultry welfare in the industry and beyond.I earned my Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner designation in October 2024. General field servicing includes barn walkthroughs, necropsies, environmental and tissue sampling, review of flock data and culling. Welfare assessments are completed on-farm for grow-out and catches using the Welfare Tool developed internally by Maple Leaf. Completed an on-farm field study with multiple broiler producers throughout Alberta from January-September 2015. Study investigated factors affecting foot pad dermatitis and foot pad assessment methods. Completed a 39 day broiler trial at the Poultry Research Centre from Oct- Nov 2015. Trial looked at impact of litter material and raised platforms on foot pad quality of broiler chickens. Presented both studies at the Poultry Science Association 2016 conference and was awarded a certificate of excellence for presentation in the student competition. Successfully defended on August 30th, 2016.
