Josep M. Jornet is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, the Director of the Ultrabroadband Nanonetworking (UN) Laboratory and a member of the Institute for the Wireless Internet of Things and the SMART Center at Northeastern University, in Boston, MA, USA. He received the B.S. in Telecommunication Engineering and the M.Sc. in Information and Communication Technologies from the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya, Barcelona, Spain, in 2008. He received the Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), Atlanta, GA, in 2013. From September 2007 to December 2008, he was a visiting researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge. Between August 2013 and August 2019, he was a faculty in the Department of Electrical Engineering at University at Buffalo (UB), The State University of New York. He joined NU in 2019 as an Associate Professor and was promoted to Full Professor in 2023. His research interests are in Terahertz communication networks, Wireless Nano-bio-communication Networks, and the Internet of Nano-Things. In these areas, he has co-authored more than 250 peer-reviewed scientific publications and one book, and has also been granted five US patents. These works have been cited over 16,000 times (h-index of 58), as of December 2023. He is serving as the lead PI on multiple grants from U.S. federal agencies, including the National Science Foundation (NSF), the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR), and the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL). He received the National Science Foundation CAREER Award in 2019 and is the recipient of several other awards from IEEE, ACM, UB and NU. He is a Fellow of the IEEE, Class of 2024, and a member of the ACM.
