Alcorix Co. is a Chicago area startup company that specializes in the fabrication of x-ray micro-optics, prototyping of MEMS/NEMS, and consulting on microfabrication projects. I contribute with microfabrication and analysis expertise in R&D projects, and generate project proposals, project reports, scientific publications, and company IP.

Energy I-Corps pairs teams of researchers with industry mentors for an intensive two-month training where the researchers define technology value propositions, conduct customer discovery interviews, and develop viable market pathways for their technologies. Researchers return to the lab with a framework for industry engagement to guide future research and inform a culture of market awareness within the labs. In this way, Energy I-Corps is ensuring our investment in the national labs is maintaining and strengthening U.S. competitiveness long-term.

Served as Entrepreneurial Lead for the Hybrid Silicon Lasers team

I conceived and executed research projects to discover relationships between size, strain, and magnetism in nanoscale materials. Accomplishments included:• Inventing a heat-assisted sputter deposition method to grow and encapsulate metallic nanoislands of oxidizable materials so that they are completely protected from oxidation.• Fabricating nanostructured ferromagnetic films for magnetocaloric applications (e.g. magnetic refrigeration, energy harvesting). • Developing synchrotron x-ray diffraction techniques to simultaneously image the 3D magnetization and strain in ferromagnetic nanocrystals and thin films.

Isaacs -- Director of Argonne National Laboratory Dissertation topic: Antiferromagnetic domain wall manipulation and measurement in Cr films• Conceived and developed a technique to engineer antiferromagnetic domain walls • Confirmed existence of patterned domain walls with synchrotron x-ray techniques • Fabricated magnetic devices containing a single domain wall in MgO/Cr/Fe/Au thin films • Precisely measured electrical transport to determine resistivity contribution of a domain wall • Determined the underlying mechanism for electron scattering by domain walls (using models) • Measured domain wall dynamics occurring in bulk and epitaxial film samples
