Nothing is more satisfying than helping someone achieve their goal! I approach my work with a strong service ethic and a growth mindset. I began my career as a teacher, and transformed myself into a professional pharmaceutical salesperson. My start in sales began by convincing the hiring manager that receiving completed homework from a teenage student is a sale. A tough sale! Pharmaceutical sales required learning complex new material very rapidly. I became a resource for my teammates by learning deeply. Meeting with busy professionals made me engaging and effective with our shared time. My analytical and problem solving skills enabled me to manage a large and culturally diverse territory.Recently, I returned to teaching. Sales training and customer experience added a new dimension to my teaching. Viewing each student as a “customer” who is “buying education” each day made it an easy transition. Differentiated materials and lessons came naturally, since each sales call required a slightly different approach, as do students. My latest challenge has been applying and adapting evidence-based pedagogy to teaching virtually and in a hybrid situation. Choosing effective methods and designing lessons for maximum impact while learning a variety of platforms has been my focus. This is hard work, but I’m excited and energized by the opportunities to improve and extend my teaching practice to benefit my students!
