- I have recently completed my Masters by Research in Social Anthropology at the University of Edinburgh, receiving a distinction grade.- My dissertation "Past, Present and Uncertain Future in Scotland's Oilscape: Investigating the Entanglements of Oil and Cultural Life in Aberdeen" serves as an extended proposal for future PhD research detailing the theoretical framework, research design, and ethical considerations behind the project. The rationale of this document, and indeed my very motivation for conducting research in this area, is to aid the development of a green transition strategy for Aberdeen the considers the needs of the city's constituent communities. The vital specificities of place that so often get left by the wayside during policy implementation from afar. Over the last five decades oil has woven itself into both the physical and cultural fabric of Aberdeen, redefining the its very identity as a place, to devise a transition without a developed appreciation for these entanglements could be catastrophic for the city. In future, I hope to conduct ethnographic fieldwork within Aberdeen's communities so that the impact of oil on sociocultural life can be better understood, and future transition strategies can be properly situated within the unique context of the region.- I am currently applying for PhD funding, and looking for professional development opportunities in qualitative research and the political/ policy sector.
