Once the units are received at the laboratory, they will be processed in a Class 10,000 clean room, using the same laboratory procedures, equipment, supplies and handling, by the same highly trained lab technicians that handle the licensed public cord blood banked units. Private units are not licensed, because they are designated for autologous use (although they may be used for a close family member, if they are a sufficient match).
