Associate Director – Cell Substrate & Viral Safety, MS&T (since October 2023)Leading team dedicated to projects impacting multiple BMS brands and manufacturing sites. Working on standardization of strategies for cell bank manufacture and characterization. Laboratory team performing molecular genetic characterization (Southern, Northern, gene copy number) of commercial stage cell banks. Viral safety testing, i.e., adaptation of ICH Q5A (R2), and viral contamination control of manufacturing facilities, are also in scope.Associate Director - Process Analytics, MS&T (May 2021 - September 2023)Led Process Analytics & Method Characterization group within Bioprocess Technology-MST. The team supports in-process testing for impurities and extended product characterization. PA & Methods also built additional capabilities for molecular genetic testing, i.e., characterization of mammalian cell banks.Principal Scientist - Viral Safety SME, MS&T (April 2014 - April 2021) As Viral Safety SME, support the global manufacturing network in all aspects concerning adventitious agent control of cell substrates and manufacturing processes. Review stage appropriate safety testing of cell banks, support investigations and contribute to regulatory submissions and responses. Assess viral safety of processes and production facilities, and implement measures for risk mitigation, e.g., appropriate in-process tests. Represent BMS on steering committee of “Consortium for Adventitious Agent Contaminations in Bio-manufacturing (CAACB)”. Evaluate opportunities for new "rapid" methods for detection of adventitious viruses, such as "next generation sequencing" (NGS).

Led cell line development group, and established state-of-the-art mammalian cell line development platform, for generation of stable CHO lines for viral subunit vaccine candidates (viral glycoproteins), fulfilling current quality and regulatory requirements. Represented cell line development function on project teams. Liaison with Development QA, Regulatory and Legal Department on cell line development related topics.

Responsible for transient and stable expression of phage-display derived antibodies in mammalian cells. Generated constructs for expression of individual antibodies and antibody libraries in mammalian cells. Led mammalian expression group, and represented function on project teams. Also functioned as project leader of external client projects.
