Head of Thorlabs Global Quality Effort.

Temporary position running Thorlabs Marketing Department in response to strategic need to produce Thorlabs catalog and performing company-wide/cross BU new product development kaizens. Managed production of 1536 page V20 catalog with 2000+ new products leading 5 Technical Writers, 10 Graphic Artist and 4 Business Unit Leaders on the project producing a 36% larger catalog in 1/3 less time compared to V19. Created value stream map encompassing 8 business units New Product development process decreasing leadtime from idea to creation by 50%. Performed 20 kaizen events involving design, marketing and production to acheive value stream map goals.

Responsible for profit & loss of UK manufacturing and sales facility of US owned global leader in photonics industry. Management of UK regional sales office and manufacture of Motion Control & Vibration Isolation product lines. Control of entity finance, marketing, sales, manufacturing, engineering, human resources, and information systems serving worldwide demand for UK manufactured products as well as UK third party sales of products made by other parts of the worldwide organization. Directing 80+ employees with a focus on implementation of lean manufacturing principles within the UK manufacturing facility and growth of overall UK business

Responsible for the production, procurement, design, profitability, marketing and growth of the Optics Product Line. Directed multiple employees and reported to the Director of Operations

Design from concept to production of optics including lenses, mirrors, prisms, specifying thin film coatings and mechanical components for mounting. AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Zemax and MathCAD were all necessary skills to do the design work. Market understanding and specific knowledge of optical physics was required as well.

Interact with customers as a direct point of contact for product or application support on all products. Also supports a special order sales business for customization of standard products to meet customer applications. Participate in display and design tradeshow demonstrations.
