Created and managed internal design system, Skyward Product Language (SPL). This led to more easily onboarding contractors and allowing more self-serve access for the dev and QA teams.Led projects for both web and mobile for our SaaS B2B platform. Worked extensively across functional teams to lead the design of Skyward’s Airspace Map – a cornerstone of the product.

From the seed round pitch deck to the keynote at CES – the first vision video to aSuper Bowl commercial – I had a defining role in the visual elements of Skyward’sbrand. We accomplished our goal of becoming a trusted advisor and leader in theindustry.As Skyward's role in greater Verizon shifted, and marketing efforts became more integrated, I decided to return my focus to building the product.

Working with hundreds of clients, including shooting over 40 weddings, consistently teaches me how to focus on the unspoken expectations. There's no harsher critic than someone looking at themselves. Making them satisfied begins with understanding their wants and concerns. We began in 2003, with some of the very first Canon digital cameras. There was no Lightroom, so I created our own custom workflows with scripts and actions.

As part of the founding team, I helped establish the mission and values of the company. I then made those tangible through photos, videos, websites, and pitch decks so we could raise funding and recruit the team. As we pivoted through changes in business models or product offerings, I kept the app prototypes, websites, and investor materials updated so we could the right conversations with investors and partners. I created a design system in Figma to establish consistency from the start - across marketing and product.

As a core member in a smaller agency, I played a role in every stage of the business cycle – pitching, story development, pre-production, cinematography, post-production, and project management. I brought in Skyward along with other clients.I created a post-production file management system and structure to bring standardization to the way we worked with projects and increase our internal efficiency.

In the world of corporate learning, I made it my mission to bring humor to the people. It worked. People were enjoying taking their courses. My company won more contracts and the clients specifically mentioned my work. I wrote, directed, and produced videos, voice over, motion graphics, photography, and presentation design for Comcast, Hilton Worldwide, Microsoft, Sony, eBay and more. I also helped design the web-based learning courses and integrated media work into them.

I was selected to be a Greenhorn for a Day on the F/V Wizard. Having been a huge fan of Deadliest Catch since the very first episode, this trip was everything I hoped for. From the pictures, to the people, to getting pranked by Captain Keith, it was just awesome. The fact that I got to take my brother with me was a multiplier effect. And seeing the behind scenes with the Discovery crew was the icing on the crab cake. I did get offered a full-time gig by a captain. Wife and kids didn't seem to think it was a good idea.

Before the days of Squarespace and Wix, there were brave souls like us. A team of five that created a platform for customers to build their own marketing site. At our peak, we had over 2,600 active customers.I designed the templates and components for the frontend as well as the UI for the user’s backend management area. As the head of customer support, I also managed two support staff on the team.

Back when a DVD burner cost $12,000, and the blank discs ran $60 a pop, you learned the importance of QA really quick. Especially when pushing the limits of the DVD spec like we were doing. Thousands of points were coded in. Then, we got to translate that project across 40 editions in 28 languages and localized to 7 different cultures. All told, it was a $1.3 million dollar effort and a plethora of learning experiences I use to this day.Our team also created a quarterly subscription product that included presentation designs, photography, and custom illustrations. This product ran for 25 volumes and then became the foundation for an online library subscription platform.
