Providing strong leadership and oversight, I manage all aspects of programming and services to ensure targets and deliverables are met, including staff supervision and mentoring, budgeting and resource management, risk management, program planning, partnership building and maintenance, program evaluation, and reporting. I also serve as co-chair of YWCA’s.

Blending evaluation and research, I collect, analyze, and manage both organization-wide performance measures and vital research into various social issues of relevance to the work of the YWCA. Utilizing my organizational, planning, and data management skills, I coordinated and evaluated a volunteer-led after-school empowerment program for grade 7 students. My natural task-focused manner combined with strong research and writing abilities enabled me to develop curricula on subjects such as media literacy and assertive communication to promote.

Using a pseudonym, I write historical novels and conduct ongoing historical research into future books. I’m also the co-founder and co-host of an online Twitter community for historical fiction writers.

With my educational background in ecology and environmental studies, I myself took on a formal educator role, developing and delivering outdoor, experiential environmental education programs for school groups, youth and adult ESL students, and members of the general public.

Taking on the many aspects youth programming simultaneously, I developed, delivered, and managed curricula and logistics for a sleep-away environmental camp that instructed youth in leadership, outdoor skills, ecological stewardship, and environmental awareness.

Parks Canada is where I began my career and where its two seemingly disparate paths of environmental science and youth engagement converge. Through field study and research, I led and contributed to projects that improved ecological integrity and public safety at various national parks in Canada.
