Conducted a Senior Research Thesis, Mapping Fire Induced Vegetation Changes in Kings Canyon National Park, in Stephens Lab under Professor Scott Stephens and PhD student Jens Stevens. I orthorectified historical aerial images using Digital Elevation Models and ERDAS Imagine, a remote sensing application with raster graphics editor abilities, and converted post- images into compatible ArcGIS files. Used eCognition to classify image objects with 90% classification accuracy using algorithms and nearest neighbor approaches to perform a land cover change analysis. The geoprocessing capabilities in ESRI ArcGIS was used to detect fire induced vegetation changes over 40 years in Kings Canyon.

Sponsored undergrad research assistant to Professor Van Butsic for his research in Mapping Marijuana Expansion in Northern California. Performed geospatial analysis using Google Earth & ESRI ArcGIS Desktop 10.X to effectively identify marijuana grows from high-resolution imagery and digitizing their perimeters to estimate environmental and social impacts. Organized and maintained a large and growing spatial database of cannabis grows using ArcGIS and Microsoft Excel tabular datasheets. Performed suitability and network analysis against location conditions to identify suitable areas for grows & dispensaries whilst factoring in location conditions. Acknowledged in Van Butsic's scientific article "Cannabis (Cannabis sativa or C. indica) agriculture and the environment: a systematic, spatially-explicit survey and potential impacts" in 2016 for assisting in research.

Institutional Research & Academic Planning (IRAP) at UC Office of the President is in the process of upgrading and updating the interactive web application: UC in California, an interactive map of impact beyond campus borders. One aspect of the upgrade is the inclusion of custom district maps on the downloadable pdfs that are an essential advocacy tool used by UCOP’s offices of State Governmental Relations and Federal Governmental Relations.I was interested in UC’s mission of public service and mapping its impact throughout the state and was given the opportunity to serve as their newest IRAP intern.
