In 2014, I re-focused the judgment-related knowledge I acquired working for the Minnesota Judicial Branch for nearly 40 years. I have offered eighteen training sessions on Civil Judgments during the last two and a half years. Court staff, law clerks and judges have attended the sessions in eight judicial districts around Minnesota. Discussions with others in legal and paralegal arenas are ongoing with the goal of providing a better understanding of the mechanical/logistical aspects associated with the processing of Civil Judgments. Work continues on a civil judgments handbook for Minnesota attorneys. The purpose of the handbook is to provide a quick reference for common judgment-related authorities and to highlight selected business practices associated with the entry, processing and enforcement of civil judgments in the State of Minnesota.

During my tenure with the Minnesota court system I held several supervisory/managerial positions, the last of which was Chief Deputy Court Administrator. I worked extensively with civil case types and acquired an expertise in the area of civil judgments. I served as a statewide resource in that area. Before leaving the Minnesota Judicial Branch, I finished the third edition of the "Minnesota Judgment Reference Manual", a proprietary 200+ page resource that is accessible to court administration and other staff via the Judicial Branch's intranet. That Judgment Reference Manual addresses logistical issues associated with a wide array of judgment-related topics. I conducted numerous workshops related to civil judgments for court administration staff. In 2009, at the request of the Minnesota Judicial Branch EOD, I presented a WebEx seminar: "Judgments: A Review of the Basics". I have also given presentations on civil judgments to law clerk groups, local bar associations and was a guest speaker at a MDJA Fall Conference attended by judges from throughout the state. I also contributed an article, "Ten Questions Every Judge Should Know" (i.e., about civil judgments) to a Judicial Training Update published and distributed to judges statewide by a member of the District Court Bench.
