My responsibilities included Corporate financial reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and audited annual statements; updating and maintaining the general ledger to Canadian Institute of Health Information standards. I also worked closely with departmental managers to build their budgets as part of the Corporate master budget. The process meant working and growing relationships with these departmental managers, so that they became comfortable with the data and could contribute meaningful information to the budgets and forecasts. I also developed relationships with the regional health authorities Finance reps which helped improve the quality of data and delivery timelines of their financial results for our consolidation purposes.My responsibilities also included the maintenance and development of various reporting templates within FRX, along with assisting and mentoring various users throughout the organization on the tips and tricks of using Dynamics "Great Plains" software. Our fixed assets and prepaid service contracts were tracked via Excel. I spent considerable time working with the Finance team and other users/providers of data to ensure that these spreadsheets were reliable, efficient, and robust, through the introduction of vlookups and pivot tables.

During my time in this position I worked on two main areas of reporting: monthly consolidation of regional health authority financial data and analysis, reconciliation of Corporate balance sheet accounts. I acted as back-up to the Manager of Financial Reporting on monthly internal statements and assisted with the preparation of the audit file.I was promoted to the position of Manager of Financial Reporting in September 2011.

This position was a maternity leave term replacement. My controllership duties included ensuring the timely and accurate reconciliation of the balance sheet accounts at month end, preparation of the year end audit file, ensuring that standards were increased with regards to accounts payable and receivable, resulting in better tracking of cash position.I was responsible for the training and mentoring of the Finance department staff in the use of Dynamics Great Plains software. This was a huge part of the role as the organization had recently adopted the software and the staff were struggling with the software. I was able to get the team to a comfort level that allowed us to concentrate on efficiencies, quality improvement of reported financial data, and amalgamation or elimination of certain tasks. Amongst other things, these changes and improvements allowed us to not replace a position when it was vacated.
