Jo-Ann Santos Alarcon is the Deputy Director, RD Grants & Reporting at International Medical Corps, a global humanitarian organization. In this role, Santos Alarcon helps build private sector partnerships to address both emergency and development needs worldwide. She and her team serve as the primary contacts for domestic and international emergency response teams, managing the flow of communication and information for emergency response and global operations’ fundraising and reporting efforts with budgets up to $76 million. She and her team also research, write and edit fundraising proposals, as well as accurate reports and other stewardship communications, from major donors to principal gifts, for potential individual, foundation and corporate donors across 25 countries. She also builds strategic partnerships with universities, hospitals, unions and other key organizations to increase International Medical Corps’ volunteer roster of disaster response partners. Previously, Santos Alarcon supported direct program design and implementation with International Medical Corps, working with local community-based organizations, government agencies, medical volunteers and other NGOs. She has deployed with International Medical Corps’ Emergency Response Team to support emergency response efforts several times, including after an earthquake in Mexico in 2017 and Hurricane Maria in the Commonwealth of Dominica and Puerto Rico that same year, Hurricane Michael in Florida in 2018 and following the armed conflict in Ukraine in 2022 and 2023.
