Alumina Refinery -Process Engineering. Optimization of the Whiteside process through:- Routine monitoring of Flows, Temperatures, Pressures, Product Size & Quality and overall equipment performance- creating monitoring & recording tools for operations group- developed plate heat exchangers chemical cleaning schedules including acid washing & caustic for improved performance- acid wash tracking tool for PHE- tracking tools for filter cloth life- assist with SPL dilution improvement project- vacuum filtration improvement project- provide training of process & parameters to operators & new starters- high level of field work & hands on approach to my area of monitoring- liaising with a wide variety of work groups on a daily basis include other process engineers, operators, supervisors, production coordinators, superintendent, managers to achieve overall production targets and equipment reliability. - create & maintain production, equipment & process engineering reports.- Production debottle-necking projects including filter performance (cloth & vacuum system), cooling tower performance, plate heat exchanger performance (Third tank temperatures)Equipment involved with include but not limited to:- Filters (disc, drum & pan)- Heat Exchangers (plate, shell & tube)- Flash Vessel Systems (Interstage Cooling)- Cyclonessmall plant commissioning (pilot & full scale plant) WWNP & DWP projects (Waste Water Neutralisation Plant & downstream Dewatering Plant)- Combination of roles included: Supervising, Control Panel Operator, Process Engineer, Laboratory Chemist & Field Operator - sampling & lab analysis, process monitoring, keeping logbook of shifts events & process control, electrical fault finding with process controls, electrical testing with instrumentation electricians/electrical engineers, debogging lines, swinging valves, process line ups, pump swaps, housekeeping, small team co-ordination, training, shift work, flexible roster on needs basis.
