Research takes funding, communication with scientists and experts from different fields but also informing and including the public is of great importance. The strenght of multiple points of view apart from those of experts is often neglected and left out in decision making, although this cooperation can avoid possible clashes in the future. Besides the importance of involving a broad range of stakeholders, looking at the most natural/ecological sollution is of rising importance. "Simple" techological or chemical sollutions have shown to lead to new problems (e.g. creating a hydropower dam while preserving river continuity). At this moment there is an increase in awareness of environmental problems, which is why I played an active role in educating primary school children at my bachelor internship as well as informing visiting organisations. At my bachelor internship I also got the chance to broaden my research and search for more environmental effects of pesticides.My master’s specialization nicely connects the social (management) and economical aspects with the scientific part of biology as well as connecting different countries. I think that such a multidisciplinary view is an important quality for a (transnational) water manager.
