Hello, my name is Jo, it’s not short for anything - I am a Graphic Designer/Artist/Mess-Maker living in South Africa. I specialize in abstract art, content creation and publication design. My preferred clients are Non-profits and NGOS, those working with sustainable resources, as well as small businesses or queer/woman/BIPOC/neurodivergent owned businesses. I am passionate about giving back to my community as well as my environment.I have over 5 years of experience in the designated marketing industry and have worked with a wide variety of clients from different industries including Activism and Conservation, IT, Education, Retail, Apparel, Insurance, Publishing, Arts & Crafts. My favourite work to do is botanical/zoological Illustration and Layout design. I also enjoy video editing and multimedia creation.I am nature obsessed. Specifically bugs and plants. During lockdown, I created a series of 87 illustrated bugs to expand my portfolio. It took about 7 months. I know many facts about bugs and I like to call myself an amateur entomologist although my trivia extends past insects alone. My Favourite arthropod (besides all Lepidoptera) has to be the Uloborus Plumipes spider (Garden centre spider) because they’re everywhere, non-venomous & non-aggressive and also very strange. They’re a type of orb-weaver spider and they don’t get much bigger than 4 mm but they do come in all different shades of brown/red and they tend to look like a small dried leaf!I have a ridiculous amount of plants in my house and I know most of their Latin names (I keep a notebook so I don’t forget). My favourite of them has to be Echeveria haagai tomaliensis, because they have wonderful purple leaves and people are generally impressed by the name (: My 20-year goals mostly include settling down on a large property and maintaining a permaculture food forest with some friends, who also help me look after our goats and geese.My cat’s name is Strawberry and my horse’s Cerberus. Sometimes I call them Strawberus or Cerberry. They don’t seem to mind. Well, that’s me and my trivia
