Encore! is one of Barclays flagship diversity and citizenship programs, designed for individuals who have taken a career break and now wish to re-enter the workforce. Entry to the program is highly competitive. Selected as one of the 25 successful applicants for the 2018 class from 1,300 applications globally. Responsibilities included working closely with stakeholder groups (front office, Finance, Risk, Treasury, Technology, Change Management, model developers) across the Investment Bank and BarclayCard, identifying and improving IHC Model related processes, governance and controls in the final lead up to the 2018 CCAR submission.

Planned and prepared project budgets. Prepared funding applications and project proposals for philanthropic and film funding organizations, such as The Macarthur Foundation, The Ford Foundations, The Sundance Institute, and Australian Film Commission. Conducted project research and development. Facilitated business administration and management. * Sourced prospects and formed relationships to drive fundraising. * Led presentations to funding organizations and prospective buyers and investors, such as HBO and Discovery Channel.

Developed and executed structured transactions for large infrastructure and corporate projects. Created and nurtured internal and external client relationships. Developed and managed administration of securitization vehicles and asset-backed financial vehicles.* Managed general project finance-related deals, focusing on privatization and infrastructure development, such as South Australia Electricity (ETSA).* Improved balance sheet and capital usage for internal and external clients by developing structures and transactions.

Hired as Assistant Dealer for interest rate products, LTFX/Cross-Currency Swap Trading Book. Promoted to Senior Dealer within 6 months based on personal performance. Developed structured deals, focusing on infrastructure projects with subsidized foreign funding from organizations, such as European Investment Bank and World Bank. Performed daily proprietary trading of USD and Rand Interest Rate Positions and Spot USD/Rand Positions. Formed relationships with numerous international trading banks, funding organizations, and many local South African corporations. Trained replacement dealer when I left firm in 1998 upon spouse’s relocation to Australia.* Improved efficiency and accuracy by migrating trading book from spreadsheet system to new integrated derivatives system.* Delivered presentations to Boards of Directors (including Government Ministers) on foreign currency and interest rate hedging, ISDA, the function of credit enhancement techniques, and relevant documentation.* Built and strengthened relationships with Internal Funding and Finance Departments in International Division for Project Finance.* Conducted day-to-day market making and price making of long-term USD/Rand foreign exchange contracts and cross-currency swaps.* Extended term of existing trading book from 10 to 20 years. * Contributed to bank’s selection as “#1 Bank in US Dollar/South African Rand Cross-Currency Swaps” by Risk Magazine September 1998.

Analyzed and improved front and back office procedures. Performed complete reconciliation and data integrity check of all interest rate trading books. Planned migration of interest rates to new system. Aided development of structured deals and produced relevant documentation.

Completed 1-month intensive investment banking program, covering back and front office activities, systems and processes in foreign exchange, money and capital markets, interest rate and bullion derivative products, including credit and funding areas.
