Ecological parasitologist with particular interest in transmission routes of pathogens and invasive species. Jo Cable is Professor of Parasitology at Cardiff University, interested in the factors that drive transmission of aquatic diseases and the spread of invasive species. Her PhD studies at Queen Mary University of London focused on adaptations of amphibian parasites. Post-docs at Nottingham and Bristol Universities involved the development of fish-parasite models, which have since been used to assess: drug efficacy and host immune responses at the individual level; how host behaviour and environmental factors affect transmission at the group level; and how different wild fish stocks vary in their response to parasitism at the population level.
