About Dr Jo Conlon
I am a highly experienced Senior Lecturer in Fashion Business and Technology and Programme Director for postgraduate taught fashion programmes in the School of Materials. I was awarded a Doctorate in Education (Ed.D) in 2019, Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) in 2020 and have 14 years’ experience of teaching, supervision at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, and course leadership. Additionally, I have almost 20 years of industry and management experience. I am an extremely dedicated, proactive and respected academic manager with a passion for supporting the development of students and colleagues. My extensive global network with close and respected interaction with industry and other HEIs, industry experience and knowledge of pedagogy has proven to be a unique asset to bring insight, innovation and leadership to the dynamic teaching and learning environment of fashion business. My research centres on change and innovation enabled by digital technologies throughout the extended enterprise. I am investigating new collaborative relationships with industry to meet the growing need for knowledgeable practitioners to support the shift to smart circular apparel systems. I have also received funding for two Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP) projects. .I graduated from the University of Manchester (UMIST) with a BSc in Textile Technology through the M&S Suppliers’ Sponsored Placement Scheme for Textile Studies. This led to employment within the supply chain of Marks and Spencer. In 2019, I joined the academic team in Fashion Business & Technology in the School of Materials from the University of Huddersfield.
