I am a key member of the team behind Shrewsbury Folk Festival, one of the premier festivals of its type in the country.I lead artist liaison and PR and communications for the four-day event. Artist liaison includes sourcing and contracting artists, managing the complex travel, hospitality and other requirements and organising and running the festival's.

I was a consultant for this results-driven agency with clients ranging from leading household brands to manufacturing SMEs and service providers. It is led by experienced former journalists with who have been variously news, business, travel and internet editors, dealing with the cut-and-thrust of daily news. I provided a PR consultancy to the English Folk Dance and Song Society (EFDSS), the national organisation which represents British folk. I was PR for The Full English project, which gained international media coverage including coverage in The Guardian newspaper, on BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio 4 and reached an audience of more than 30 million.

During my time at the BBC, I live produced the Breakfast show, Mid Morning with Jim Hawkins and Drivetime as well as a period as overnight producer for the Breakfast Show. I also produced Saturday and Sunday breakfast shows and worked as a broadcast journalist. I won the station's Susie Parkes award for a series I recorded and produced on Shropshire.

Harvest Help

I was responsible for co-ordinating all communications including producing and writing newsletters, annual reports, appeals, adverts, trading leaflets including gift catalogues, supporter project updates and website copy in an organisation with bases in several countries. This involved a complete overhaul of the design of publications which I managed.

I set up and ran the press office for the West Midlands single handedly covering seven Midlands’ counties and more than 400 media organisations.I led both national and regional PR campaigns and one campaign I project managed became the RSPCA’s most successful annual campaign of 2000 and 2001 with the welfare messages reaching an audience of 22 million.

Roles included assistant news editor, senior and deputy chief reporter.
