About Jo Dodd

I started my career as a recreation assistant (lifeguard) and casual sports coach. After several years of temporary contracts and volunteering in sports coaching, administration, customer service and an event coordinator at Wyre Forest DC, I was successful in gaining a position with Dudley MBC as a Sports Development Officer. In 2008 I re-qualified as fitness instructor and delivered various classes in the Black Country. I became qualified in many disciplines including pre and post-natal fitness, children's health related fitness, advanced level 3 (NVQ) in fitness and GP exercise referral. In 2013 I was successful in gaining a position as a specialist health trainer in physical activity with Wolverhampton NHS, in the same year I moved to the Wolverhampton Community Trust as an activator working with a Phd student on a Sport England funded research project. As I'd worked for many years alongside public health and enjoyed the experience when an opportunity became avalible to work in Public health in a physical activity role I applied and was successful. This was a community role assisting and supporting the delivery of local grants to enable inactive residents to become active. My current role as a Public Health network coordinator, is based in the same Local Authority. This role was an opportunity to gain more experience across the West Midlands Region, working with the Associated Directors of Public Health and PHE. I currently support regional networks, coordinate workshops and conferences.
