Responsible for delivering accurately and timely financial reports to support adult community services in NW and SW Surrey. I worked closely with senior management and operational colleagues to monitor financial efficiencies through an ongoing programme of transformational change to deliver improved services and patient outcomes. Key responsibilities included:• overall achievement of financial targets, • providing business performance reviews at a business unit or service level,• providing financial and commercial input into new and existing contracts, working closely with local account/contract managers,• leading financial negotiations with NHS commissioners and provider organisations,• finance leadership for business improvement projects and initiatives,• identifying areas of overspend and recovery of costs,• supporting annual budgeting and ongoing business planning,• acting as ‘Finance Champion’ providing financial leadership to non-finance colleagues

I was Finance Lead for multidisciplinary bid team which successfully securedthe contract to provide NHS community services in Surrey. I was responsible for financial modelling and ensuring that the bid financials reflected the planned transformation of the Surrey services. Following contract award, I was the Finance Lead during due diligence and contract negotiations with the commissioners and was responsible for ensuring that all financial aspects of the services transferred safely. Following transfer, I worked with the newly transferred finance team to ensure smooth integration into Virgin Care.

I was responsible for financial management of 10 GP joint ventures with aggregate annual turnover of c.£4 million providing a range of primary care and AQP services across the south of England. This wide ranging role included representing the financial interests of Virgin Care with GPs and commissioners and working closely with the regional General Managers and local Business Directors on financial and operational aspects of these 10 joint ventures including:• contract negotiations and monitoring meetings with NHS commissioners and subcontractors,• identifying opportunities to improve margins and reduce costs and risks,• financial review for new bids,• providing budgets and business plans to meet corporate objectives;• overseeing the production of monthly management accounts;• attending the Management Board meetings with GPs; and• presenting financial results to joint venture members at AGMs.

I was recruited to Assura Medical (prior to Virgin ownership) to provide financial and commercial bidding expertise for Wave 1 Equitable Access GP led health centres, successfully leading on the award of 10 contracts. Key achievements included:• creating robust financial models, reflecting financial and commercial risks and opportunities as an integral part of the bidding process,• representing the financial and commercial interests at bidder presentations and during contract negotiations, • negotiating with commissioners to optimise financial outcomes and minimise risks of the contracts, • liaising with legal advisors to develop subcontracts for the schemes and to resolve VAT and NHS pension issues.

I was responsible for financial modelling, including commercial and risk modelling, within multi disciplinary project teams bidding for Wave 2 ISTC diagnostic and electives schemes. Key achievements included:• successfully bid for West Midlands diagnostics scheme providing financial support and decision making analysis for contract negotiations, • leading on equipment procurement working with and finance providers,• finance and commercial lead for Essex electives scheme providing financial modelling for the scheme and decision making information to Board, • leading on smaller bids including: GP practices, locally procured diagnostics, diabetic retinopathy, TB services and GUM services.
