I am available for freelance / remote writing and editing work in English and German, and for UK and international educational projects, including development and training. I am open to creative collaborations. As editor of Findings, the Magazine of the Association for Contemporary Jewellery, I plan content in discussion with the Board, then commission, edit, occasionally translate, and proofread contributions. This includes interviewing jewellers who are more at ease talking about their work than writing about it. I aim to include diverse, global content, to engage with members, and to allow each maker’s voice to shine through. My role also involves liaison with the graphic designer and printers. I am author and co-author of a number of textbooks and books for teachers, predominantly in Critical Thinking, Global Perspectives and teaching for thinking and independent learning, I have written to a brief with tight deadlines and collaborated with others. My favourite comment from an editor is that I produce beautiful copy.My roles as Senior Assessor have involved writing, editing and revising high stakes examination questions and whole papers since 2004 in a range of subjects including German, Knowledge and Inquiry, Critical Thinking and Global Perspectives. I edit moderation reports for clarity and accuracy, in addition to ensuring they remain within guidelines. This strand of my portfolio includes setting and maintaining standards, alongside leading teams to mark and moderate to that nationally agreed standard within extremely tight deadlines, to ensure that each candidate gets the right result.Projects relating to international qualification, assessment and materials development, have included collaboration with international, virtual and in person teams to produce qualifications, course materials, books and other resources which promote teaching, learning and education for an interconnected world in which critical thinking, independent learning, self-evaluation and ability to respond to constant change are essential. This has also involved in person, hybrid and online training. Like most people who love language, I am writing a novel. I may never make a living from that aspect of my writing practice, but I am living better because of it. In addition, on a small scale, I am an ethical jewelsmith, with a strong interest in unusual and gemmologically interesting stones. I make one-off sustainable jewellery for strong, independent women.
