Our mission at Heartland Forest is to build healthy children and communities who feel a deep connection to the natural world. I am responsible for providing exciting and dynamic programs that tie into the Ontario School curriculum through a variety of teaching techniques including investigation, observation, games, storytelling and art. Children and Youth gain knowledge, confidence and appreciation, for the importance of wetlands, habitats and begin to have an understanding of and commitment to stewardship.

As Volunteer and Community Garden coordinator at Project Share I was responsible for the recruitment, training and management of our volunteers, including committees and events. I am often out in the community providing presentations to community groups and schools to promote our programs and solicite necessary donations. A large portion of my work focuses on the coordination of our Community Garden as well as providing workshops on gardening and nutrition to families in need in Niagara. During the Christmas months, I am resposible for recruiting volunteers for the Santa Claus parade, Candy Cane Lane fun Run, Annual Christmas Basket program as well as sorting and organizing our Toyroom that provides toys for over a 1,000 children in Niagara. I am often called upon to locate volunteers for other agencies and third party events due to our large base of volunteers.

As Owner/operator of Coffee on the Spot, my husband and I placed 20 coffee vending machines in various business staff room throughout the region. We provided quality service to ensure customer satisfaction, and maintained and nurtured relations with all of the business owners and staff.

As Nutrition Coordinator at Project Share I provided support, supplies and funding for school breakfast programs in the Niagara Region. I was resposible for the design and implementation of healthy eating workshops for students and families living on a low income. I was also responsible for creating and meeting department budgets.

As a Resource Teacher I worked closely with Early Childhood Educators, parents and therapists to integrate children with a variety of special needs into the nursery school classroom.

After graduating from the Child and Youth Worker Program at Centennial College I began my career working at The Lloyd S. Richardson Residence, a group home for latency aged children unable to live with their families. After 3 years I was promoted to the position of Family support worker and began working with families in their homes assisting parents and children with behaviour modification programing as well as providing both art and play therapy for children.
