Jo spent 30 years building up the family business, Pearsons Group, to become one of the leading waste management and recycling businesses in East Anglia, he is a member of the Chartered Institution of Waste Management. Jo was an early adopter of recycling, recognising the economic and environmental benefit of diverting waste from disposal and generating valuable secondary commodities and the business invested heavily in state of the art, strategically located facilities, machinery, vehicles and plant, throughout the region. Having acquired five complementary businesses, Pearsons Group was then sold to Viridor, one of the UK’s largest waste and recycling businesses, . Jo now runs the family property management & development business, sits on several boards in various commercial roles and interests, is Chairman of Trustees at Open Road West Norfolk, Recently appointed Chair of the new Thetford Town Development Board , Vice Chairman of Thetford Business Forum, Trustee/Treasurer of the Thetford Educational Foundation Trust, Trustee of The Dads Army Museum, (just retired as Vice Chairman of both Norfolk Community Foundation and Vice Chair of Trustees / Director of ZSEA-Zoological Society of East Anglia (Banham Zoo and Africa Alive) ,Advisor to Thetford Grammar School and is currently President of The Old Thetfordians Association and is a Past Chairman Thetford Round Table & 41 Club.Jo is a keen follower of country pursuits and with wife Mandy is often seen watching Norwich City at Carrow Road.Born and bred a Thetford man, Jo has lived in the Town & County he loves his whole life.

Managing DirectorPearsons (Thetford) Limited Mar 1970 - Nov 2010ThetfordEstablished in 1945 as a waste paper merchant, Pearsons (Thetford) Ltd remained under family ownership and control until 2010 when they sold to Virador.From the mid-1970s the company expanded significantly, mainly in the areas of recycling, waste management and disposal, and at the time of sale it had 120 staff and a fleet of over 50 vehicles. These vehicles served over 4,500 skips and containers, recycling banks and wheeled bins throughout the Eastern Region. Most of the material collected for recycling was processed at Pearsons’ three extensively equipped, modern waste management sites, which covered a total area of over twelve acres. With a combined group annual turnover approaching £12 million, Pearsons provided waste management options and expert advice in relation to the full range of materials, from commercial and industrial waste to hazardous materials.
