Working in the Innovation and Good Practice team at Homeless Link, I have managed a portfolio of projects aimed at increasing good practice across England. Since January 2016 I have been leading the work on Housing First England, a three year project aiming to increase the number of areas in the country offering Housing First, and supporting and improving existing projects. My role includes offering support and guidance to a variety of audiences through a range of events, guidance and other online tools. I am also responsible for bringing providers and commissioners together into local networks and building a national movement. I have spoken at both national and international events to raise the profile of the project and the approach.Projects include:- Street Counts and Estimates (2015)- Your Vote Matters (2015)- Autism and Homelessness (2015) - Severe Weather Emergency Provision (2015)- Your Area good practice events (2015-16)- Trauma Informed Care (ongoing)- Housing First England (from Jan 2016)- Transatlantic Practice Exchange (ongoing)- Consultancy and training (ongoing)This role requires me to engage with a variety of statutory (national and local) partners, the homelessness sector and other partners e.g. housing associations, health services and academics.

I was the lead across the organisation for Mental Health and Wellbeing, responsible for providing some 1:1 and group support to service users, providing guidance and support to colleagues and working collaboratively with clients to co-produce well-being services (e.g. I supported a client to set up and facilitate a Hearing Voices group). I was responsible for building the capacity of the organisation with regards to psychologically informed working and initiated access to reflective practice sessions for frontline staff.

The Pan London Personalised Budgets project began in 2011 and is funded and monitored by the Greater London Authority and two other trust funds. This innovative project provides intensive support and a personal budget to individuals who have slept rough in London from between 4 and 45 years and who were unable to engage with traditional outreach methods. The purpose of the project is to empower individuals to take control over their futures through personalised and tailored support. I work with individuals across London on a 1:1 basis, building a relationship with them and using a variety of skills to support them to resettle away from the street into their homes.

I worked in a multi-disciplinary team to provide street outreach within a central London borough. Working with anyone who was sleeping rough in the area, I provided advice about immigration issues, welfare benefits, housing options and other local services in addition to supporting individuals to access physical and mental health care, substance misuse support services and ultimately supporting them to move away from the street.

On the Turning Point graduate scheme I gained experience as a project worker in a variety of services:1. an independent mental health unit for men with severe and enduring mental illness (4 months)2. a residential care facility for adults with learning disabilities (4 months)3. a young persons substance misuse services (4 months)4. a hostel for men and women leaving detox (8 months)These roles gave me a solid understanding of the different support needs of vulnerable adults and young people, a wider understanding of the different sectors and some insight into related legislation and contracting requirements. I gained experience of support planning, risk assessing and the practicalities involved in the day to day operations of supported accommodation projects.
