Jo has 18 years of experience in education. She begun her career as a primary school teacher but quickly progressed into senior management. A successful SENCO and lead practitioner for several years led her to gain additional qualifications as a specialist of dyslexia. Jo worked for several local authorities as a consultant of SEND, setting up and running outreach provisions for dyslexia, speech and language and ASC. In 2013 at age 34 JO was diagnosed with dyslexia and decided to write a book about her experience. ‘Don’t forget to Smile,’ is used to raise understanding and awareness of what dyslexia really is. Jo is on a mission to educate all schools on the true impact of dyslexia because reading and writing are only the top of the ice berg. Her bespoke INSET trainings use a combination personal experience and theory to increase awareness and understandings in schools.
