Sustainable Hive is a Community Interest Company that connects teachers with free learning resources and expert knowledge to inspire children about sustainability through National Curriculum learning. We do a large variety of work, such as communicating complicated content effectively to children through fun and inspiring lesson plans, teaching resources and educational workshops, all with a focus on sustainability. Everything we create is of high quality, visually stimulating and cover core learning objectives from the National Curriculum. Our work reaches thousands of schoolchildren across the UK. We are a small, but super passionate team of three, two of which started their careers as teachers and therefore know what teachers and schoolchildren really need.Our website, www.sustainablelearning.com, acts as our main hub of support. We hope you take a look, as we're really proud of it. It is packed full of lesson plans, inspiration and networks of experts who support teaching in schools. In addition, we developed the free online game Sustainable Shaun, brought to life by Aardman Animations Ltd. The premise of the game saw players help Shaun the Sheep build a thriving yet sustainable city. After unprecedented success Sustainable Shaun was awarded best ‘Game with a Purpose’ at the prestigious TIGA Games Industry Awards, and it has gone from strength to strength: the game has been enjoyed by over 600,000 children from a staggering 191 countries. In partnership with the European Commission we have now translated the game into 24 languages and it is available in both app and html versions (indeed the app received 62,000 downloads in January alone!). I manage all the learning activity for Avon Wildlife Trust's Community Team. This includes all education provision at the Folly Farm Environmental Centre with day and residential visits (from across the UK and abroad), all funded and partnership programmes, and learning activity in line with the Trust strategy whilst ensuring the department is financially viable. I design, and manage a programme of courses and events and manage a team of staff, contractors, placements and volunteers to deliver this activity.I promote learning in the outdoors and the benefit of engaging with the natural environment through regular media presence including high profile TV and radio appearances and social media.

Manage the learning of a day and residential education centre and all teaching staff. I developed a wide range of courses to attract different user groups to this new centre including: all school aged students, Universities, teacher training and adult learning. During my time in this role bookings increased by nearly four thousand students.

Manage Outreach and Community Engagement projects through programmes sponsored by council services, local organisations, charities and businesses. Teach all programmes for formal and informal learning events and train all new tutors for the FSC in John Muir Award and health and safety.Manage key centres areas, including staff timetables and budgets.

During my secondment I promoted worldwide expeditions particularly targeting disadvantaged groups.I Developed, produced and delivered marketing strategies and explored partnership opportunities in the UK and abroad. I also Led an Moroccan expedition teaching low-impact travelling and sustainable tourism practices.

Secondment Position - part timeI managed the Cumbrian office for the John Muir Award which is a nationally recognised environmental Award scheme and worked with the wider community to encourage them to become involved in their environment and conservation. I ensured the quality and successful delivery of the Award and regularly evaluated effectiveness. I completed complex funding bids and reports and delivered training to leaders throughout Cumbria and to all staff of environmental centres, including nationally to the FSC and outward bound.
