Recruited as the 1st Lead Facilitator for a grant funded research project to determine if a specific wide variety of mentally ill clients could be significantly improved by working together in a support group situation. The group consisted of 8 people of both sexes and several races - white, oriental, black and Hispanic - in ages ranging from 21 to 75. The common denominators were their agreements to take their meds, participate to help themselves and others, honestly as possible assess their situation and feelings, and agree to complete any suggestions or assignments I might give them. Illnesses included schizophrenic, severe OCD, paranoid bipolar, and multiply challenged. Their expectations ranged from a better understanding of their situation with a hope to improving it, possible referral to a clinical trial, and simply hope that they would find something that truly would make life more worth living,

  In-depth understanding of problem (autism, childhood/family difficulties, drug use and abuse, schizophrenia, cancer, rape/incest/sexual harassment, depression, - whatever the problem was) to modalitides ranging from discussion to relaxation therapies to recommendation of medication - all sources were considered such as genetic, psychological, medical, and mental, as causes, changes, and solutions.
