Joachim Jacob is a passionate bio-engineer with extensive expertise in entrepreneurship, IT, project management, and sustainability. He aims to leverage his scientific background, creativity, and broad experience in business operations to contribute to a more sustainable society by developing, sharing, and implementing innovative solutions.My choices are driven by gratefulness for the society I live in, respect for the natural world, and I am trying to contribute in a meaningful way to it. I value open source and collaborative software very much. Hence my contributions to Wikipedia and OpenStreetmap. I use open source and advocate for it to stay productive and happy. Since my believe in the power of enterprises and collaboration, I have initiated Partago, an electric car sharing cooperative enterprise, in 2015, in an attempt to turn my time and energy towards mitigating climate change, which is in large part also driven by transport emissions. This citizen cooperative aimed to provide a collectively owned fleet of electric vehicles. We received excellent scores. Unfortunately, in 2023, after 8 years of operation with 80 vehicles and 1000 active users and 450 k€ revenue per year, we have had to face a lack of growth due to corona-lockdowns on a crucial point, extreme energy prices, and fierce competition. We decided ultimately to abandon operational activities and shut down Partago.During this Partago period I succesfully accomplished 4 fundraising campaigns. Responsible for all facets of daily operations, I have a deep understanding of business, car sharing and its complexities, both operationally as well as financially. After 3 years into Partago I initiated The Mobility Factory (TMF, 2018), an European cooperative enterprise. I got 6 other European parties around the table to found it. I was board member for 4 years at TMF. TMF developed a collaborative IT platform (flutter and firebase-based) is tailored to cooperatives wanting to share electric vehicles.
