    In 2007, I studied Mechanical Engineering at Chalmers University of Technology. During this time, a friend and I learned that Sweden was planning to replace all energy meters with digital smart meters. This sparked our interest, and we initiated a Master's thesis project to explore the potential for energy savings in residential homes. Our research revealed that simply increasing awareness of household energy consumption could reduce bills by up to 34% through behavioral changes alone.This discovery inspired us to develop a business plan, secure seed funding, and found Eliq (originally known as Exibea). In 2010, we launched our first product, the Eliq Energy Display, an in-home energy monitoring device that broke new ground in the industry. The product was a success in the Swedish market, leading to the development of a white-label product for IKEA called "Sparsnäs," which was made available in all Swedish IKEA stores.Building on this momentum, we developed a smart home gateway and, in 2012, launched Eliq Online, which was the world’s first real-time connected energy monitoring app. Since then, Eliq has been a pioneer and global leader in energy monitoring solutions. In my role as founder and CEO, I lead the company through this period of rapid digital innovation which was incredibly challenging and experiencing, as we evolved from a hardware-focused startup into a software company specializing in data analytics and customer engagement solutions for utilities.What I'm most proud of is having set the vision of the company, hired highly talented people (my fellow co-founders, still with the company to this day) built it from scratch to raising funding from ALMI Invest and IKEA Greentech among others and becoming a well renowned player in the energy monitoring space.
