As an Earth Scientist I have a passion and love for our planet, but also a deep concern for the impacts of the climate crisis. My experience of working in the corporate world has shown me that our man-made systems of business and finance have a long way to go before they are in service of people and the natural world. Despite the overwhelm this realisation brings, I remain committed to contributing to organisations that are (or want to be) part of the solution to our sustainability challenges and recognise the depth and breadth of systemic change that is necessary.I recently spent 3 years supporting bp in their attempt to transform and adopt a purpose (rather than being purely extractive and driven by short term profit). I rejoined bp in 2020 with enormous hope about what the company could achieve. However, I left in 2023 feeling angry and disappointed that bp had rolled back on their climate targets. It's an experience that taught me so much and I hope it has made me a wiser woman.

Project Lead For The North Atlantic, Basin Analysis TeamBp Dec 2013 - Mar 2015UkI led a team of eight to produce a mega-regional review of the North Atlantic region, with the objective of ensuring BP focused activity and investment in most valuable basins and plays. I was able to co-ordinate my team to meet the significant challenge of pulling together a detailed sub-surface understanding of a large, complex part of the globe by leveraging BP’s previous experience and consolidating a substantial seismic and well database. This allowed us to clearly describe the Geology, compare yet-to-find resources and prioritise business opportunities.

One of the highest ranked opportunities was in the Browse Basin where I led a team to create a risked and ranked prospect inventory in support of the upcoming license round.

Geoscientist, Libya Exploration TeamBp Jan 2008 - Feb 2012UkI participated in the design, acquisition and interpretation of one of BP’s largest 3D seismic surveys (17 000 km2) in the offshore Sirt Basin. My work on play fairway evaluation and prospect description culminated in my proposal for the drill-out strategy, designed to best evaluate the hydrocarbon potential of the basin, for which I gained senior management approval. I was then responsible for planning four high profile Exploration wells, each costing >$200 million.

Challenge GeoscientistBp Sep 2004 - Dec 2007UkI gained Geological experience across the North Sea, United Arab Emirates, Iraq and the Caspian Sea as well as operational experience in the Southern North Sea and the desert of Sharjah. My greatest achievement was building a reservoir model for the Azeri field based on my reinterpretation of static and dynamic sub-surface data.
