Originally an English teacher, I gave that up to move from Glasgow to Stirlingshire. I became secretary of Gargunnock Farmers' Club and organised their annual agricultural show. I acquired two Highland Ponies and was hooked! When the farm a mile away came up for sale, we were fortunate to be able to buy it and started breeding commercial cattle and sheep and established a fold of pedigree Highland cattle, as well as increasing the number of ponies - to 47 at one point! We exhibited the ponies with some success, including the ridden championship at the Royal Highland Show. We sold our Highland beef locally. I acted as secretary to BHS Central Scotland region and to SEBA of which I was a founder member. I also did some freelance equestrian journalism and photography. I was show secretary for the Highland Pony Society Breed Show in 2000. I judged several non-affiliated shows, mainly riding clubs. After my husband's accident in 2007, I stopped breeding cattle, but still buy in Highland stores to finish. I'm still breeding and showing the ponies but to a lesser extent.
