I was a technical innovator for 40 years at the Boeing Company, developing computing technology support in a wide variety of arenas, from digital programming in the Wind Tunnel, to AWACS Real Time Systems, including being a flight team crew member, to the Boeing Spare Part System, a 7x24 online world wide distribution and support part supply chain system to thousands of part purchasers around the world.When I retired, I used this technology and management experience to care for my developmentally disabled brother who moved from Pittsburgh to Seattle to live with me after my Mother's death.Getting care for a person like my brother, who is mildly retarded, has autism, aphasia, and other symptoms resulting from cerebral palsy, is harder that rolling out a new airplane. The state constantly denies needed treatments, both urgent and palliative, due to cost constraints and lack of knowledge. A full time job and quite challenging.
