About Joan Lyons
My background is in religious studies, grief group facilitator training, health and wellness and text book consultant. Over the past five years my focus was on research and writing my dissertation with emphasis on grief education. In developing grief group facilitation training for parish bereavement ministers the focus is on "it takes a village" to share the care for those in mourning. My career is primarily teaching as an adjunct professor in religious studies, graduate death and dying courses, and facilitating grief groups. I have certification in Criminal Death Support and tramatology. I am passionate about ecology conservation and social justice issues. At the moment, there is a need for bereavement groups in underserved neighborhoods in our North Miami communities.Specialties: My areas of specialties include: cross culture Religious Education, Methods and Ministry, Death Education and Grief Facilitator Training.
